Carlos Espí has received his first senior call-up to the Spain national team. The Real Madrid forward replaces the injured Ferran Torres for the final two Nations League matches against the Czech Republic and Croatia.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente has opted for the Under-21 international. "Has decided to call up Spain Under-21 international Carlos Espí of Real Madrid to take Torres's place against Czechia and Croatia in Oviedo and Split," De la Fuente said. The call-up follows the withdrawal of Ferran Torres, who is suffering from persistent discomfort in his left ankle. The Spanish federation, in agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, decided to release the player to prioritise his recovery.

Espí arrives in fine form. He was a key player in the Under-21s' victory against San Marino (0-13), a match in which he scored five goals. His senior debut comes as La Roja are on a four-game winning streak, the latest a 1-2 victory in Croatia on 6 October. The team approaches these fixtures with full confidence, as seen in our stats section.

The first match is this Saturday, 3 October, against the Czech Republic in Oviedo. On Tuesday the 6th, the team travels to Split to face Croatia. Both matches kick off at 20:45 CEST and will be broadcast on La1. Following this window, the next fixture is an away trip to the Czech Republic on 12 November.
