Alberto Ruiz Santa Quiteria Intillaque, a young talent developed at Real Madrid's academy, has been called up to represent the Spain under-15 national team at the inaugural FIFA World Cup for this age group. National team coach Hernán Pérez has included the player from La Solana in a 14-man squad that will compete in Azerbaijan from October 24 to 30.
The tournament, which will bring together 190 national teams at the Hovsan sports complex in Baku, will be played as 8-a-side on smaller pitches with 20-minute halves. Spain has been drawn in Group E alongside Chile, Congo, Tajikistan, Barbados, and Kuwait. Their opening match is against Chile on October 24. The national squad will gather at the Las Rozas facility on the 20th and travel to the host country two days later.
Rising Trajectory
Alberto Ruiz, born in 2011, began his development at La Moheda between 2016 and 2019 before moving to the Real Madrid youth setup in the 2019-2020 season as a benjamín. His progression has been steady, making his Spain under-14 debut in May of last year and not missing a single youth call-up since. His early honours already include MVP and Golden Boot awards with nine goals at the LaLiga Promises Tournament, as well as being named best player at an international event in Orlando.
Aurelio Maroto, a figure involved in his development, highlighted his role: "Alberto will lead La Roja in Azerbaijan." His call-up comes at a time of strong form for Spain's senior sides, who are on a four-game winning streak, most recently beating Croatia 1-2 on October 6.
For the young forward, this World Cup is a key milestone. If Spain advances from the group stage, they will enter the knockout phase of a tournament featuring 950 matches over six days.
