Spain national football team faces Finland and North Macedonia in the Main Round of the qualification phase for the 2028 World Cup. The group will be played between October 2026 and March 2027. The first classified teams from the 12 groups and the four best second-placed teams will qualify for the Elite Round. Spain and Finland have met nine times, with seven Spanish wins, one draw and one loss. Coach Jesús Velasco assessed the pairings: 'On paper we are superior, but as always we have to prove it'. And Finland is a team we know better, while we have less information about North Macedonia. I think they will be tough matches, but we have to win them. So the goal is clear: win every match and get the best possible result. Spain has also faced North Macedonia seven times, always with a Spanish win and a balance of 48 goals for and only six against. The last match was in 2014 in a friendly played in Skopje that ended with a Spanish victory by 1-6. But Jesús Velasco is aware that the matches will be difficult. Spain has to prove its superiority on the field.
